UNRIP v2.0
This SHAREWARE utility was written by Leonard Avilla of Avicom.
Copyright (c) 1993-1994 AviCom
Introduction:
UNRIP allows the option of changing RIP to GRAPHICS,
for doors that do not support the RIP graphics.
UNRIP also allows use of the users' ALIAS rather than their real name.
Please read all the information before using UNRIP!
UNRIP supports most DOOR.SYS drop files.
If your DOOR.SYS file has the folowing information, then UNRIP will
work very well for you.
The users' name is on line 10
The graphics mode is on line 20.
The conference number is on line 24.
The Alias name on line 36
UNRIP detects and supports USERINFO.DAT file.
Installation and use:
Install UNRIP in a directory that is in your path.
If you do not make an UNRIP.CFG file then you must run UNRIP from the drop
directory.
Sample DOORx.BAT file:
UNRIP /R /A <- Uses Alias and Changes RIP to GRAPHICS
CD\WC30
DOORTRAK <- Program that creates DOORS.BBS
E: <- Changing drives
CD\DOORS\BINGO <- Changing directory
BINGO BINGO.CFG <- Run Door Game
C: <- Changing drives
CD\WC30\WCWORK\NODE%WCNODEID%<- Return to NODEx directory (if no config file)
UNRIP /U <- Removes all changes (see note below)
Command line parameters:
All command line parameters will override the config file commands, except
for the conference numbers.
UNRIP /A or A in the config file.
Using /A will use the user Alias instead of their real name. If the user
does not have an Alias then their real name will be used. UNRIP will
change the DOOR.SYS and the USERINFO.DAT file if it exists.
You can specify conferences to use Alias names in. (see UNRIP.CFG)
UNRIP /R or R in the config file.
Using /R will change the RIP to GRAPHICS in the DOOR.SYS and USERINFO.DAT
files if it exists, enabling the user to see color instead of non-ansi,
because the door does not recognize the RIP line in the DOOR.SYS or
USERINFO.DAT files.
UNRIP /A /R or /R /A
You can stack commands. Using /A /R will use their Alias and change the
RIP to GRAPHICS. The space between the commands is not required.
UNRIP /UA
Using /UA will undo the Alias name change.
UNRIP /UR
Using /UR will change the GRAPHICS back to RIP, if the user is using RIP.
UNRIP /U
Using /U will undo all changes that were made. (must be ran before re-enty)
If you don't run UNRIP /U before re-entering the board, Tom Thumb will become
Mary Hacker. In other words you will have problems.
ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE:
Setting an environment variable in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file will allow you
to run UNRIP from any directory.
SET UNRIP=C:\WC30 <- This will tell UNRIP that the config file is in the
C:\WC30 directory.
UNRIP.CFG file setup:
The setup file is required for registered versions.
You can specify the conferences you want Alias names used in.
This file only requires the first four lines. The rest is up to you.
Sample config file:
High Plains BBS <- BBS name
Leonard Avilla <- SYSOP's name
0 <- Registration number
C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE%WCNODEID% <- directory were DOOR.SYS is located
A <- From here down you can enter your
R normal configuration. Such as; remove
2 RIP and/or use Alias.
4 Enter the conference numbers (1) per
243 line.
Conference numbers must be the last items in the file. There is no limit
on the number of conferences in the list. The A and R can be omitted from
the file. If conference numbers are omitted, UNRIP will use Alias names
in all conferences.
UNRIP will also set the errorlevel, you can use this in a batch file.
Errorlevels returned:
1 = RIP was changed to GRAPHICS
2 = Alias was detected and used
3 = RIP removed and Alias used
Sample Alias only DOORx.BAT file using errorlevel:
UNRIP /R /A <- Uses Alias and Changes RIP to GRAPHICS
IF NOT ERRORLEVEL 2 GOTO MSG <- If no Alias print message, undo changes
CD\WC30 then return to the board.
DOORTRAK <- Program that creates DOORS.BBS
E: <- Changing drives
CD\DOORS\BINGO <- Changing directory
BINGO BINGO.CFG <- Run Door Game
C: <- Changing drives
CD\WC30\WCWORK\NODE%WCNODEID%<- Return to NODEx directory (if no config file)
GOTO END <- Skip the message
:MSG
WCREAD MESSAGE <- Send a message before exiting
:END
UNRIP /U <- Removes all changes (see note below)
If you have found this little program of some use, a donation of $15.00
would be appreciated. (I won't insist, but, gosh I'm hungry!) and it will
turn off that 4 second delay. See UNRIP.REG file for details.
